Jerry Mitchell For Re-Election - And Response

  • Friday, February 17, 2017
I ran against Jerry Mitchell when he first ran for City Council.  I had known him previously as the Parks & Recreation adminstrator.

During the campaign I grew to have great admiration for Jerry's honesty, integrity and his faith in God.  Representing constituents is challenging...you can't make everyone happy so you have to do what you think is right, fair and just.

I trust Jerry Mitchell to always do the right thing.  I ask you to cast your vote to re-elect Jerry Mitchell to the City Council.

Jerry Mitchell is the right person to represent District 2 on the City Council.

Why?  For one, Jerry is the only candidate in this race with an actual record of getting results for District 2.  While serving as the city’s Director of Parks and Recreation, Jerry led efforts to build Coolidge Park, The Champions Club, DuPont Park, Enterprise South Nature Park and the 21st Century Waterfront.

Since taking office as Councilman, Jerry has successfully worked to double the city’s paving budget and secured funding to re-pave key roads in District 2, including Cloverdale Drive, Dallas Road, Forest Highland Drive, Mississippi Avenue and North Market.  Jerry has also worked with neighborhood leaders to take ownership of the former Dixie Yarn site and fund its remediation.  Once completed, this property can be turned into something the benefits District 2 and its residents.  Most important, Jerry played an important role in bringing IronMan to Chattanooga – one of the many things he has done to improve the quality of life and drive tourism in our community.

Jerry’s record of getting results for District 2 is clear, and this is why I’m asking you to join me in voting for him on Election Day, March 7
