Gifted And Talented Musician Played With The Chattanooga Symphony

Eric Cress Walker, 59, of Reliance, Tennessee, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away on December 15, 2017.

He was of the Baptist faith and attended Cleveland First Baptist Church. Eric was a gifted and talented musician, proficient with a number of instruments. He also enjoyed deep-sea fishing, boating, and time spent with loved ones on the Gulf Coast. Eric was a member of the Chattanooga Symphony and the Mobile Big Game Fishing Club. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas and he received his master’s degree from the University of Georgia. He was employed with Brenntag Midsouth.

He was preceded in death by his father, James William Walker.

Left behind to cherish Eric’s memory are his wife, Jean Scruggs Walker; Reliance, son, Mason James Walker, Chattanooga; mother, Sharon Lee Stutler, Oldsmar, Fl., brother, Marc Easton (Becky) Walker, Clearwater, Fl., sister, Lauren Elizabeth Walker; Tallahassee, Fl., and many dear friends.

A celebration of Eric’s life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 5–8 p.m. and again on Thursday, from 12 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at a private family service in Lakewood Memory Gardens East. Honoring Eric’s memory as pallbearers will be John Parker, Jim Morris, Dave Crossman, Marc Walker, Jim Goldsac, and Mike McNew.

Arrangements are under the care of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist East Chapel, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tn. 37412.
