Ron Harr, host of WTCI's local program, EXPLORE health, addressed the Rotary Club of Chattanooga Hamilton Place and discussed health topics that impact the local community.

"Sometimes the message isn't fun to hear, but it's too important to go unheard.  Ron raised our awareness about important health issues within our city, state and across our nation," officials said."Tennessee has three of the leading cities in the nation with high obesity rates and unfortunately, Chattanooga is rated at number one, and that is not where we want to be.

"Tennessee ranks high in the nation with numerous chronic health problems which is a huge issue for our state's economy and resident's quality of life. Our city overcame the nickname of 'dirtiest city in the nation' and Ron stated he believes we can overcome our negative health status as well.  However, it will take a culture change, increased awareness and talking about where we are health wise, and where we need to be to make a difference and see results," officials said.

EXPLORE health airs each Thursday at 8 p.m., and discusses topics such as asthma, obesity, opioids, mental health, Alzheimer's disease, and digestive health. These are only a few of the topics, and all program segments are shown on their website to review or watch a program that you may have missed.
