Whitfield County Landfill, Convenience Centers To Be Closed Thursday, Nov. 23

The Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority has announced the holiday hours of operation for it’s four facilities in Whitfield County. Locations include the Old Dixie Landfill & Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center in Cohutta, Westside Convenience Center in Rocky Face and the M.L. King Convenience Center in Dalton.  
 
All locations will be open from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, including the McGaughey Chapel location that is normally closed on Wednesdays.

All four sites will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23 in observance of Thanksgiving Day.

All locations will reopen on Friday, Nov. 24 from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. and resume normal hours.



New Traffic Pattern For 2 Downtown Intersections

The Chattanooga Department of Transportation will convert the two-way stop intersections of W Main Street at Carter Street/Reggie White Boulevard and Carter Street at W 13th Street/Highway 27 off ramp to all-way stop intersections.  Work will begin Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.  Congestion and traffic rerouting may occur through Wednesday as lane lines are shifted.  ... Ooltewah Man Sentenced To 20 Years In Prison For Murder Of Son-In-Law

An Ooltewah man was sentenced on Monday to 20 years in prison for the murder of his son-in-law. Glen Donaldson, 57, will have to serve the time at 100 percent under state law. A jury on May 25 found him guilty of second-degree murder in the Dec. 29, 2016, slaying of 39-year-old Adam Levi.  Judge Don Poole called it "a sad, sad case," but he said the evidence showed ...
