The Westin Chattanooga To Help Guests Explore Downtown With New Bike Chattanooga Station

  • Monday, November 13, 2017

The Bike Chattanooga Bicycle Transit System will celebrate the opening of its 38th station, at 801 Pine Street in front of The Westin Chattanooga, also known as The Gold Building.  The new hotel includes a bike share station to provide its guests with a convenient and fun way to explore Chattanooga while staying at The Westin. The new station allows easy access to Chestnut Street and Broad Street, where newly-installed streetscaping and bike lanes provide the public with a comfortable route running from the Southside to the Riverfront.

"This expansion is exciting as it is the first in Chattanooga to be part of new development," said Ben Taylor with CDOT.  "The Westin recognizes the convenience of bike share and made the decision to include a station as an amenity for their guests."

The Bike Chattanooga Bicycle Transit System invites the public to celebrate the grand opening of its 38th station at the Westin on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The Westin team will dock Westin branded Bike Chattanooga bikes to open the new station, and a celebration will follow on the veranda with music, and Bike Chattanooga giveaways.

Bike Chattanooga is a Chattanooga Department of Transportation program to make efficient transportation and access viable for everyone – cyclists, pedestrians, transit users and motorists, while enhancing multi-use public spaces for all people.  Chattanooga’s Bicycle Transit System is operated by Shift Transit with 345 bikes and 38 docking stations for convenient, 24/7 access to a bike from the North Shore to the Southside, from the University in the east to the Convention Center in the west, and all 13 miles of the Tennessee Riverpark from the Hubert Fry Center to the Wheland Foundry trailhead.  Each station has a touchscreen kiosk, system and neighborhood map, and docking points which release bikes using a member key or ride code.  Visit www.bikechattanooga.com.
