Mocs Volleyball Falls In Five Sets

The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team fell in a five-set (28-26, 23-25, 20-25, 25-20, 18-16) heartbreaker against UNCG in Greensboro, N.C., on Saturday evening.
 
The Mocs fall to 12-12 overall and 5-5 in the SoCon and are now 0-5 this season in five-set matches. UNCG improves to 12-10, 5-5 in conference play after the win.
 
Ally Ford finished with a match-high 21 kills on a .167 percentage while Eden Murray finished with 13 kills at a .344 clip and Dani Szczepanski totaled 10 kills on a .388 percentage.
Madison Bergren completed her tenth career assist-dig double-double by notching a team-high 33 assists and adding 15 digs. Lauren Greenspoon chipped in with 20 assists.
 
Megan Kaufman led the Mocs defensively as the freshman finished with a match-high 25 digs. Emily Plumlee totaled a career-high 9.0 blocks to lead the match while Ally Ford and Mikaela Gauthreaux added 5.0 and 4.0 blocks, respectively.
 
UTC earned the blocking advantage over UNCG by a 14.0 to 7.0 count and also hit for a higher efficiency, .193 to .172. The Spartans totaled more kills at a 70-61 edge and also committed fewer service errors as the Mocs posted a season-high 13 errors from the service line.
 
Chattanooga returns to Maclellan Gymnasium next weekend for a pair of 6 p.m. matches on Friday and Saturday. UTC and Furman will collide on Friday on Bone Marrow Donation Awareness night before the Mocs and Bulldogs from The Citadel clash on Saturday during Senior Night. Admission is FREE and both matches will be broadcasted LIVE on GoMocs.com.
