Neal “Noodles” Edward Scarbeck died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 14, 2017 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at the age of 65.

Neal was born on Jan. 19, 1952, in Amityville, NY. Neal was an altar boy in the Catholic Church, a taxi driver in NYC, a chemical plant manager, a semi-pro ballplayer, a nick-name giver, an infamous storyteller, a secret poet, and everyone’s biggest fan. While quick-witted, his insight into people’s souls was unparalleled and he lavished encouragement on each person he knew. He was passionate about all varieties of pie.

Over the last 25 years Neal made it his mission to love people on the fringe. He made a real difference in countless individuals’ lives because of the way God’s grace changed him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (North) Scarbeck, his three brothers, Donnie, Kenny, and Steve Scarbeck, and his former spouse, Flo Dillworth Russell.

Neal is survived by his wife of 25 years, Susan “Suz” Scarbeck, children, Kim “Kimbolita” Hayen (Brad), Steven “StevieNeal” Scarbeck (Marie), Bryan “BryBryMunsterFace” Scarbeck, Nathan “The NateNateBoy” Scarbeck;  grandchildren Elise “LisieGirl” Hayen, Parker “Park” Hayen and Charlotte “Monkey” Hayen; sister, Karin “Chick” Scarbeck Maxim (Ron); a host of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, at Heritage Funeral Home in East Brainerd.
