Mary Varnell, 91, of Flintstone, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Oct. 16, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was born in Houston, Tx., June 27, 1926, a daughter of Wright and Mary Duncan Fairhurst. She has lived in the North Georgia area most of her life. Mary was a member of West Park Baptist Church. She retired from Huffaker and Associates after more than 40 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed fishing with her late husband and watching the Atlanta Braves.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Forrest E. Varnell.
Survivors are daughters, Forrestine (Jimmy) Lewis, Chickamauga and Becky (Steve) Richardson, Flintstone; sons, Ben Wyly, Horseshoe Bay, Tx. and Mike (Ginger) Wyly, Signal Mtn.; step-daughter, Alyce (Carlis) Swafford, East Brainerd; grandchildren, Scott and Brandon Wyly, Sarah Wallin, Rachael Smith, Keith Richardson; two step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Taylor officiating. Interment will be in the Varnell Family Cemetery in Ooltewah.
