M.I.M.E. Leadership To Send 24 Students To Texas And Florida For Relief Efforts

  • Thursday, October 12, 2017

M.I.M.E. (moving to increase minority excellence) Leadership will send 24 high school students to help in the relief and rebuilding efforts of Hurricane Harvey and Irma.

For six years, M.I.M.E. leadership has traveled to Louisiana to continue the work of rebuilding the lower ninth ward of New Orleans affected by Hurricane Katrina. With the damaged caused by Harvey and Irma in Texas and Florida, M.I.M.E. students felt they needed to shift their focus this year on the hard hit areas in those states affected by the storms.

“We love going to New Orleans to give back, but Texas and Florida really need our help,” said Brian Allen Sr., executive director of M.I.M.E. Leadership. “When the students you work with have a passion to give back to other communities and their ready to pull up their sleeves and get to work, I have to make it happen; I have to raise the funds for them to go!”

Tax deductible donations can be given by texting GIVE to 423-763-7008 or http://www.youcaring.com/texasfloridahurricanevictims-948924.

M.I.M.E.'s mission is to empower at-risk and inner-city youth and young adults and serve as a catalyst for change throughout communities with leadership development, missions, and sports.
