Auditions For West Side Story Start Monday

  • Friday, January 6, 2017

Closed Door Entertainment will hold open auditions for West Side Story Monday and Tuesday, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at CDE's Phoenix Theatre, 3708 Ringgold Road.

Performances will be held March 31-April 8.

Here are the audition requirements from Closed Door Entertainment:

Monday and Tuesday, 6:30-8:30 p.m.: Open Call Auditions. Please come prepared to sing 32 bars of a song of your choice. A piano accompanist will be available so please bring sheet music with your cuts already marked. No CD or Mp3 track accompaniment will be accepted. Auditioners with sheet music for the accompaniment have a far better chance of being cast than a'capella auditioners. You will also need up to one minute of a monologue of your choosing.

Wednesday, 6:30-9:30 p.m.: Callbacks. Come prepared to learn music for your specified vocal part and perform it as part of a quartet and/or octet. You will also be taught choreography and be expected to perform it in small groups, so wear proper dancing attire- no sandals, flipflops. Please note that you will receive no "call" for callbacks.  Please check www.cdoorent.com/auditions at any point after midnight on Tuesday night to see if you are needed at callbacks.

Thursday, 6:30-8:30 p.m.: Specific Callbacks. When the initial Callback list is posted, your name may have a specific song. Please learn that song and be prepared to sing parts or all of it at this callback. If your name does not have a specific song listed beside it, you do not need to attend this callback session.

Friday, Jan. 13, 6:30-8:30 p.m.: Mandatory cast meeting. You'll be issued a script and score, as well as all pertinent information needed for the production. Please have your bio in hand upon arrival, or email it to ClosedDoorEntertainment@gmail.com prior to the rehearsal.

Rehearsals for this production will begin Jan. 16, and will be held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights from 6:30-9:30 p.m., as well as Saturdays from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

The two weeks leading up to the production will have nightly rehearsals Monday-Friday from 6:30-10 p.m. every night. The Saturday prior to tech week will be a 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. rehearsal as well.
