Rep. Graves Says He Will Fight To Make Ban On Taxpayer-Funded Abortions Permanent

  • Tuesday, January 24, 2017
Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) released the following statement after voting in favor of the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act (H.R. 7), which makes the ban on taxpayer-funded abortions permanent and prohibits the federal government from subsidizing insurance plans that cover elective abortion:

“I stand with the millions of Americans who believe in protecting the lives of the innocent unborn. No American should have their conscience violated by paying for abortions through their tax dollars.
That’s why Congress passed annual legislation banning this practice for the last 30 years. The bill we passed today finally makes that ban permanent, removing fear that it could lapse and making a strong statement in support of life. I urge the Senate to act quickly to send this important legislation to President Trump’s desk.”

H.R. 7 passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 238 to 183.
