Volunteers To Pack Meals For Feed My Starving Children Saturday

At Stuart Heights Baptist Church In Soddy Daisy

  • Tuesday, January 24, 2017

Although there is enough food in the world to ensure that everyone receives adequate nutrition, there are still an estimated 925 million people who suffer from chronic hunger and many of them are children.  A group of almost 500 volunteers will work to decrease those numbers Saturday at Stuart Heights Baptist Church. This group of area youth organizations and their leaders along with friends and family plan to pack 100,000 meals. Through the international nonprofit, Feed My Starving Children, the meals will be distributed to children in nearly 70 countries worldwide.

This FMSC packing event, YouthPack 2017, will provide opportunities for area youth to not only assist in decreasing the effects of world hunger, but also learn to serve their community in a positive way, said officials. YouthPack 2017 is completely volunteer-run, coming from Chattanooga area youth groups, school clubs, scouting troops, sports teams and more.

Stuart Heights Baptist Church along with American Heritage Girls Troop TN2206 has worked to fill almost all volunteer positions, but there are still some opportunities available. Volunteers can sign-up for a two-hour packing session at http://volunteer.fmsc.org, event name “YouthPack 2017,” event number “1701-312NO.” Corporate sponsorships are also needed to help cover the cost of meals. For more information, contact Jennie Ferguson at 802-2143 or ahgtn2206@stuartheights.org.

YouthPack 2017 will be held at Stuart Heights Baptist Church, 10049 Dayton Pike.

Feed My Starving Children is a Christian nonprofit hunger relief organization working with volunteers to produce MannaPack Rice, a scientifically formulated food that is culturally acceptable worldwide.

Stuart Heights Baptist Church has multiple sites in the Chattanooga area. The purpose of Stuart Heights is "to glorify, know and enjoy God, so that we can make Him known through our words and our works."
