Parkie J. Stephenson, 91, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017.

She was born on Nov. 23, 1925, in McMinn County, and was a graduate of Calhoun High School.

Parkie retired from the Hamilton County Nursing Home where she worked as an assistant in the pharmacy.

She was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church for 47 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Garry and Etta Johnson, two sisters, Narcy Swafford, Inez Everett and five brothers, Huey, Wesley, Jarvis, Glenn and Roy Johnson.

Survivors include her loving husband of 72 years, Alvin Earl Stephenson, two sons, James Gary (Liz) Stephenson, of Ft. Lupton, Colorado, Dr. Allan Stephenson, of Rome, Ga., four grandchildren, Dana, Eric, Hope and Anna, sister, Dolly Kelley, of Az., and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, at Silverdale Baptist Church with Pastor Tony Walliser and Pastor Travis Jones officiating.

Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Stephenson Cemetery in Calhoun, Tn.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m., Monday, January 23rd, at the church.

The family would like to express gratitude to Martin Boyd Christian Home and Dr. Lydia Speer for their compassionate care.
