Dalton State Defeats Brewton-Parker, 95-56

It was a dominant game for the Roadrunners as they defeated Brewton-Parker College (Ga.) in a blowout, 95-56, at Mashburn Arena on Thursdaynight.
 
THE FIRST HALF 
The Barons would open with an early lead at 10-6 with a three by McKel Miller with16:29 left.
The Roadrunners wouldn't trail for long, and would tie the score 10-10 with
15:38 left. Dalton State would then go on an 8-0 run that was capped with a layup in the paint by Mon'Darius Black to make the lead 18-10 with 13:32 left. The Roadrunners never gave up their lead and grew the gap to 20 points at 49-29 with1:30 left. Dalton State would lead Brewton-Parker 49-31 going into the break.
 
THE SECOND HALF
The Roadrunners would waste no time in the second, and an 8-0 run that was capped with a three by Benat Hevia would grow Dalton States lead to an impressive 26 points at 57-31 with 18:12 left. The Barons would be unable to rally a comeback to shrink the gap as the Roadrunners found their momentum to grow the lead to 35 points at 81-46 with 8:58 left. The Roadrunners were on fire, and increased their lead to 40 points at 89-49 with 5:42 left. The Barons kept up the fight, but the Roadrunners would walk away with a blowout win at 95-56.
 
THE REST OF THE STORY
The Roadrunners improve to 16-1 overall, 8-1 in the SSAC, for the season with the win. The Roadrunners returned home from a difficult series of road games to improve their win streak to 11 games. Dalton State had three players in double-figures led by Carnilious Simmons with a double-double, 18 points and 13 rebounds. Sayvon Wilson followed close behind with 17 points and 8 rebounds, while Reed Dungan continued his strong performance over the last few games with 16 points.
 
The Barons fall to 6-8 overall, 2-7 in the SSAC, for the season with the loss. Brewton-Parker was led by the strong play of McKel Miller with 18 points. Jamelle Lanier and Malik Wright followed with 12 and 11 points respectively.
 
The Roadrunner season continues against College of Coastal Georgia for a Homecoming game at Mashburn Arena on Saturday, January 21st, at 4:00 p.m.
