Irene P. Farner, 86, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home.
She was born January 31, 1930 to the late W. E. and Ella Cross Powell; and was also preceded in death by her brothers, Frank, Harve, Bob and Deo Powell; and sister, Myrtle Mason.
She was a member of Good Samaritan Baptist Church.
Survivors include her loving husband of 70 years, R. L. Farner of the residence; daughters & sons-in-law, Linda & Robert Jackson and Kathey & Mike Whaley, all of Dalton; sons & daughters-in-law, Larry & Sue Farner of Cohutta and Kymon & Phyllis Farner of Dalton; sisters & a brother-in-law, Brenda & Eddie Payne of Dalton; Evelyn Jarrett of Cartersville, Louise Powell of Turtletown, TN; brothers & sisters-in-law, Paul Ray & Nellie Powell of Turtletown, Eugene & Patricia Powell of Adairsville and Joe Powell of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Mary Hamby of Tellico Plains, TN; grandchildren, Tim & Mary Farner, Chris Farner, Larry W. & Jennifer Farner, Anthony & Danielle Farner, Tracie & Keith Dempsey, Carol & Wes Faulkenberry Russell & Shalina Jackson, Mary Anne & Brian Whitmore, Jenifer & Scott Ward; 20 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Farner will be held Thursday, January 19, at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Pastor Arthur Corbin and Rev. Tommy Brown officiating. Burial will be in Dawnville United Methodist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Tim Farner, Wes Faulkenberry, Chris Farner, Anthony Farner, Russell Jackson, Larry W. Farner, Keith Dempsey, Scott Ward and Brian Whitmore.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the service time at 2 p.m.
