AEED Receives green|light Certification

  • Monday, January 16, 2017

AEED, Inc. (Advanced Energy Engineering and Design) completed its green|light certification. A green ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for this Thursday at 5 p.m. to celebrate its accomplishment in sustainability.

AEED is at 408 McCallie Ave.

green|light, a program of green|spaces, supports a business culture of sustainability in Chattanooga. The program supports both large and small businesses that are interested in reducing the environmental impact of their policies and practices as well as saving money, attracting and retaining employees, and receiving recognition as a local green business. The program takes into account the type and size of an organization and works alongside to create a step by step sustainability plan.

AEED had to accomplish several requirements to attain the certification. Each business that goes through the process has the support of a dedicated green|spaces employee to help along the way.

"It is a privilege to work in a forward thinking environment like AEED.  When we decided to seek this green certification it made us as employees realize we are leading the way by example for other firms to follow.  We organized a wellness program, reduced our paper waste, and replaced all of our lighting with LED bulbs, among many other things," said Christy McDonald, employee at AEED, Inc.
