Ellis Gilbert Bohon (known to his family and friends as Gilbert, Gib, and Bones) was born September 30, 1942 in Thomas, WV, and passed away on January 13, 2017 after his battle with cancer.

Gilbert was a loving and caring husband for 39 years to Violet Bohon whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Herman Bohon and Dorothy Valentine, along with his brother, Timothy Bohon, and his sister, Barbara Jordan.

He was blessed again to be able to be a loving and caring husband to his surviving wife Shirley Summers of Soddy Daisy, they had 11 years together traveling and gardening, and just enjoyed each other’s company. He will be greatly missed by is surviving brother, Steve Bohon, and sister, Sherry Penrod of Florida. His surviving children are his daughter, Peggy and husband Butch Wilson of Canal Fulton, Ohio, son-in-law of 25 years, Mark Blowers, son, Craig Bohon and Christa of Old Fort, TN, son, Chuck and wife Jodi Bohon of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, son, Brian Bohon of Ravenna, Ohio; his stepchildren Sherry and Joe Ooten and Scottie Summers of Soddy Daisy, who will miss his loving and supportive nature. He always seemed to have the right answers when they needed them, and was all ways there to help in any way he could. His 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild will miss spending time with their loving grandfather.

Gilbert proudly serviced his country in the US Army. He was a coalminer and finally finished his working years as a heavy machinery operator and supervisor at Northern Ohio Paving for 35 years and belonged to Ohio Operating Engineers Union. He was enjoying his retirement by working with his son at his garage working on diesel engines. He enjoyed traveling, working in the yard and gardens. He would start every day with a workout whether it was riding his bike or weight lifting. He attended Church at First Baptist of Soddy Daisy for his spiritual needs and enjoyed actives with all of his friends from Church. 

Services will be held on Monday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Seton Tomyn officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ohio.
