Leroy Priest, Sr., 92, passed away on January 4, 2017 in a local hospital. 

He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was employed as a custodian at Spring Creek Baptist Church for 20 years and as a truck driver for GE for 11 years.  He was a member of Hope City Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Mattie Priest; daughter, Barbara Priest; son, Leroy Priest;  nephew, James Curtis Moore; brothers, Lewis, Clifford and John Priest and sister, Betty J. Priest Watkins.

Survivors include his wife, Lucile Priest; sons, Leroy (Dorothy) Priest, Jr. and John L. (Darika) Priest; daughters, Gilda Patton and Shirley (Randy) Toney; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; nephews, Jimmy L. ( Joanne) Moore, Andrew Moore; niece, Joyce (Larry) Edmonds, all of Chattanooga; aunt, Ira M. Perry and uncle, Charles Priest of Cleveland, Oh.

The funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, Jan. 13, at Hope City Church, at 7 N. Tuxedo Ave. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon on Thursday, and the family will receive friends from 7–8 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.

Jury Finds Donaldson Guilty Of Second-Degree Murder In Killing Of Son-In-Law

A Criminal Court jury late Friday afternoon returned a verdict of guilty of second-degree murder against Glen Donaldson in the killing of his son-in-law, Adam Levi.
