Eagle, Robert "Bob"

Robert “Bob” Eagle, 90, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on January 9, 2017.

Robert was born on Sept. 21, 1926, in Long Island, New York. He served in the Armed Forces during World War II and later worked at Combustion Engineering as draftsman and supervisor for 30 years. Robert was an accomplished craftsman building three boats including a beautiful sailboat. He will mostly be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his disabled son, Ron, who for 31 years he lovingly cared for.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Eagle; parents, Reuel and Thelma Eagle; sons, Robert and Ronald Eagle; sisters, Dorothy Merchrod and Connie Kantakis.

Robert is survived by sons, Richard Eagle of Watertown, Tn., and Russell Eagle of Chattanooga; daughters, Suellen (Chris) Simpson of Watertown, Tn.; nine grandchildren, Laura Guerard, Jonathan, Alex (Alexandra), Melissa, Stephanie and Michael Simpson, Jordan, Jonathan and Madeline Eagle; a great-grandson, Theodore Fielden-Watkinson; six nieces and nephews.

A private ceremony will be held for family and close friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Kitchen at 727 E. 11th Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37403.
