Inspired West Georgia handed the visiting Lee volleyball team a 3-0 defeat (25-20, 25-20, 26-24) on Friday evening in a Gulf South Conference contest. The loss dropped the Lady Flames to 4-7 overall and 1-5 in the GSC. West Georgia improved to 4-11, 1-7.
After the Wolves quickly moved on top 2-0, the Lady Flames tried to make a comeback, much like the one at Valdosta State last Saturday, only to see the hungry West Georgia team find a way to win the final set and claim the match.
In the losing effort, Silvia Sartori had 13 kills and eight digs.
Brooke Wilsman followed with 12 kills and six digs, while Catherine Conley had five kills and two blocks. Sadie Johnson posted 16 assists and Kristi Farley followed with 15. MaKayla Beebe picked up 20 digs.
West Georgia’s balanced play at the net was paced by Katie Hanson (9), Autumn Burnette (8) and Lindsey Thomas (8) kills. Madi Fleming was the match assist leader with 24, while Tricia Melegari came up with 17 digs.
The Lady Flames now face a quick turn-around, returning to Walker Arena for another GSC match against West Alabama on Saturday at 2 p.m.
