Daniel Amos Rardin, Jr., of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died on Thursday, September 29, 2016. He was 95 years old and still active.

He was born in Athens, Ohio on May 17, 1921 and lived there the first 22 years of his life.  He attended Ohio University, graduating in 1943. The next three years were spent in the armed services where he trained to navigate aircraft for the U.S. Air Force. He was assigned to a squadron of B-29 bombers. Upon his discharge from the Air Force he returned to Athens, Ohio where he met and eventually married his wife of 70 years, Maida Juanita Cook.  He was first employed by Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, and later by Cutter Laboratories in Chattanooga.  In 1954 he resigned employment in order to engage in self-employment, namely a rental service named United Rent All, and three years later he changed the name to Rent All Store which still exists today.  He lived in the same house for 63 years, which he loved to call home.

He was a member of the Brainerd Presbyterian Church and the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  He served as an ordained deacon in this church.  He managed and directed his business actively for 30 years and served as consultant for another 27 years.  He was elected to the original board of directors of the American Rental Association.

During retirement he and his wife were active in square dancing.  They belonged to Chatta Square dancing. Dan became interested in line dancing and taught this exercise for several years.  After line came ballroom dancing.  It was about this point in life he decided it was time to retire from this active life style.  He leaves this world with no regrets.  He was born of loving parents, loved and was loved by his wife and family, and looks forward to reuniting this love in heaven with his Father and earthly family.

He is survived by his wife, Maida Cook Rardin; sons, Rodney Alan Rardin, Michael Bruce Rardin and Dale Monroe Rardin; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister; Virginia Ramsey, Leesburg, Fl.

A private family graveside service will be held on Monday, Oct. 3, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Chattanooga, or a charity of your choice.
