World War II Veteran Retired From DuPont

Virgil Crawley, 90, of Soddy Daisy died on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born to the late Ernest and Inez Crawley on August 26, 1926 in Harlan, KY. He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II, was a 32nd degree mason with the Soddy Lodge 418, and retired from DuPont in 1986. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Inez; brother, Ellis; sisters, Mildred Grimsley and Norma Neel; and a grandson, David. 

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Betty Wilson Crawley; sons, Don (Jenny), Mickey (Brenda), Greg, and Roger (Amy); along with 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Lucky. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church at 487 Highwater Road, Soddy Daisy, Tn. 37379. The family would like to thank Caris Healthcare and granddaughters, Tonya Pollos and Amy Hale, for their loving care. 

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Oct. 2, from 3-8 p.m. There will be a graveside service on Oct. 3, at 11:30 a.m. with Brother Jim Cross officiating, followed by a masonic service and military honors.
