Chattanooga State's Economic and Community Development Division Offers Non-Credit Classes

The Economic and Community Development Division at Chattanooga State Community College offers a variety of non-credit classes on a continual basis. Classes scheduled during the academic year are geared toward both working and non-working adults. 

Offered on Tuesdays, Oct. 4 through Nov. 8, from 7-7:55 p.m., six sessions of Social Dancing will be offered for $69. No experience or partner is necessary.  Students will learn the basics of lead and follow while having fun learning the Swing and Rumba, officials said.  Presented by Ballroom Magic, classes will be held at their dance salon, Ballroom Magic Dance Salon, 4200 N. Access Rd. in Hixson. Dance parties are also held on Friday evenings without an additional fee for this class. A one-day class on the art of self defense will be offered on Saturday, Oct. 8 on the main Chattanooga State campus in the Center for Business, Industry & Health (CBIH) building. Beginning at 9 a.m., this four-hour class could possibly help you save your life, officials said. Unlock your inner creative writer and learn how and where to start your journey, officials said, at classes offered Oct. 20 and 27 from 6-8 p.m., the class cost is $49. Participants will learn how to find their own natural material, discover what inspires them, and create their own ideal writing, how to generate first drafts, and how to keep a writer’s notebook.
