Lee Volleyball Drops 3-1 Contest At West Florida

Playing without its top front-line player, the Lee volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match to host West Florida on Friday evening (17-25, 25-22, 11-25, 14-25). The loss moved the Lady Flames' overall record to 3-6 and 0-4 in Gulf South Conference play. West Florida is unbeaten against GSC opponents.


"Silvia (Sartori) went down in the last game at Christian Brothers on Tuesday with an ankle injury," said Coach Andrea Hudson after Friday's match. "She was able to go in on the back row some tonight, but we couldn't risk her getting hurt again.
Silvia will hopefully be ready to go tomorrow (Saturday at Valdosta State)."
 
Senior Blaire Beamer (9), Brooke Wilsman (8) and Catherine Conley (7) stepped up to pace the Lady Flames in the kill department. Crystal Dedes (7), Beamer (5) and Ellisia Kimble (3) were the block leaders, while Sadie Johnson (17) and Kristi Farley (15) dished off the assists.
 
For West Florida, Katy Kuhlmeier (13) and Kathryn Torre (12) paced the Argonauts in kills. Torre had five blocks and Cora Bidlack had four. Monique StCyr was the assist leader with 43.
 
The Lady Flames will seek their first GSC victory on Saturday when they move on up to Valdosta, Ga. to face Valdosta State at 1 p.m. The Blazers lost to Shorter University on Friday evening, 3-0.
