TSBDC Names Good Fortune Soap As 2016 Rising Star Award Recipient

  • Thursday, September 22, 2016

Jennifer Strain, owner of Good Fortune Soap, a Chattanooga Spa & Soap Boutique, has been awarded the 2016 Rising Star Award from the TSBDC at Chattanooga State Community College.

The Rising Star award is given annually to the company that best exempli?es not only business success, but an outstanding working relationship with the TSBDC and use of the services it provides. The TSBDC, SBA, Chattanooga State Community College, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will host a reception in honor of Ms. Strain on Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 5:15-6:30 p.m., at the INCubator, 100 Cherokee Blvd., Chattanooga, TN 37405. Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union sponsors the event.

Good Fortune Soap is a Chattanooga Spa & Soap Boutique that offers massages, organic facials, personalized perfumes, an essential oil bar with more than 70 oils and fragrances, including shave and beard oil for men, spa parties, and fun create-your-own projects for all ages.

In its earlier years, after assistance from the TSBDC, Good Fortune Soap redirected its business into retail and spa services, rather than selling some components of the business. Ongoing counseling provided assistance with setting up the retail space, marketing strategies, networking opportunities and human resources.

“The TSBDC is honored to work with individuals like Jennifer. We strive to support the individual and their business in every possible facet of the growth process. By helping Jennifer navigate through these processes, it was a real treat to see a Chattanooga business success story first-hand,” said Senior Counselor, Ivette Rios.

This event is open to the public and embodies the entrepreneurial spirit surrounding Chattanooga; specifically during StartUp Week Chattanooga from Oct. 3-7.
