Charles Hannah
Former Super Bowl players and Baylor School alumni Blake Moore and Charles Hannah will return to their alma mater on Friday as part of the "On the Fifty" campaign to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl.
The two will present commemorative Super Bowl trophies to the senior captains of this year’s football team at Upper School Assembly at 9:45 a.m., and will make a second appearance with Baylor Athletic Director Thad Lepcio during half-time of the Baylor vs. Brainerd High School football game.
According to NFL.com, the NFL is recognizing high schools and communities that have contributed to Super Bowl history by presenting Wilson-produced gold footballs to every player and head coach who has appeared in a Super Bowl. The Super Bowl High School Honor Roll will be an annual tradition moving forward.
Mr. Hannah is a native of Albertville, Al. and a 1973 Baylor graduate, who garnered All-City and All-State awards in football and All-City honors in track. He played in the 1973 Tennessee All-Star Football Game and led Baylor’s team to the 1973 state championship game his senior year. An All-SEC performer at the University of Alabama, Mr. Hannah was a member of the SEC championship teams in 1973, 1974, and 1975 SEC and the national championship team in 1973. He began his 12-year NFL career as the Tampa Bay Buccaneer’s first pick of the third round in the NFL draft. During his six years with the Buccaneers, Mr. Hannah was a member of the 1979 Division Championship team the 1981 NFC Central Division Championship team. He played six more years for the Los Angeles Raiders beginning in 1983 and was a starting guard for the team that won Super Bowl XVIII, 38-9 over the Washington Redskins, in 1984.
Mr. Moore graduated from Baylor in 1976, where he was an All-City pick and played in the Tennessee High School All-Star Game his senior year. An outstanding student, Mr. Moore was salutatorian of his class and a National Merit Scholar. He started every game of his four-year career on the Wooster College football team where he was a three-time Academic All-American as well as an All-Conference player, and was twice named Outstanding Lineman in the Ohio Athletic Conference. He received an NCAA scholarship for Academic Excellence in 1979 and graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1980. Mr. Moore played center and backed up at tackle, guard, and tight end for the Cincinnati Bengals from 1980-1983. The Bengals lost Super Bowl XVI to the San Francisco 49ers in 1982. He also played for the Green Bay Packers in 1984 and 1985. Following his NFL career, Moore graduated Cum Laude from Harvard Law School in 1989.
