Police said a woman set her boyfriend's clothes on fire near her house, where her baby was inside.

Lureya Drew, 24, of 606 Dodson Ave., was charged with setting fire to personal property.

In the incident last Friday at 12:20 p.m., witnesses said Ms. Drew was sitting on her porch holding a knife. She told a neighbor her boyfriend had not come home and she was upset.

When she was told she should just put the knife down, she responded that she should just kill herself.

She then went into her house and brought out all the clothes of the boyfriend, Edward Thornton. She put them in a big pile along with his bicycle. The pile was about 10 feet from the house.

She set it on fire and left it to burn, it was stated. She then left the property.

Police said the pile of clothes began to burn heavily and the Fire Department was called to prevent it from spreading.

Police said the boyfriend "was very upset" when he found his clothes and bike on fire.
