Founder And Head At The Montessori School Plans Retirement

  • Wednesday, August 31, 2016

The Board of Directors of The Montessori School has announced the retirement of the founder and Head of School Bobbe Spink effective May 31, 2017.

Since Ms. Spink and her husband founded the school in 1972 in their home on Signal Mountain, The Montessori School has grown into one of the most highly regarded Montessori institutions in the country, said officials. In the course of her tenure, the school moved downtown, increasing enrollment from five to 248 students. The campus grew with the acquisition of property that now is now home to a gym, library, music studio, elementary and middle school classrooms, and Sensory Garden.

Board President Robyn Carlton praised Ms. Spink stating, “Bobbe Spink is a quintessential leader, a fantastic spokesperson for the school, and a good friend of all in the school community; we have been so fortunate to have her as head of school. We look forward to celebrating Bobbe’s many contributions, and to providing opportunities for the entire Montessori community to show its appreciation. We are confident that she will leave The Montessori School poised for spectacular future growth under new leadership.”

A national search for a new head of school will launch soon.
