Hallie Thompson
Hallie “Stevie” Thompson, 88, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, August 27, 2016.
She was born on August 19, 1928 in Pelahatchie, Ms. to the late McKinley and Lillie Abernathy Stephenson. Stevie was raised and attended school in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. She worked at Sears and retired from Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute. She and her husband were founding members of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Stevie was an enthusiastic outdoors woman, who enjoyed fishing, gardening, and time spend with her many friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Neil and Nelson Stephenson.
Stevie is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charles Edward Thompson; daughter, Shirley Spann; grandchildren, David T. (Caroline) Shuford, Jr. and their children, William and Allison, and Charles Thompson (Ashley) Shuford; sister-in-law, Margie Stephenson and a nephew, Ken, and his family.
The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 29, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A celebration of Stevie’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Stevie’s name to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 3210 Social Circle, Chattanooga, TN 37415.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
