Clara Mae Hayes, 95, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at her residence a day after family celebrated her 95th birthday.  

She was a God fearing woman who was a faithful member of Great Second Missionary Baptist Church for more than 50 years.  She was born Aug. 23, 1921, in Elberton, Ga.  

She was preceded in death by her father, P.S. McGlocklin; mother, Alice Bowman McGlocklin; brothers, Eula, M.C., Chester, and Luther McGlocklin; sisters, Emma, Ida McGlocklin, and Essie Tyus; granddaughter, Cynese Hill and grandson, Bobby Hayes, Jr.  

She is survived by her son, Bobby Hayes, Sr.; daughter, Joyce (Clarence) Harris; honorary daughter, Pearl Barnett; daughter-in-law, Delores Hayes; nine grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 39 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  

The family will receive friends on Monday, Aug. 29, from 6-8 p.m. in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home.  

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at noon at Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Steve Caudle as the eulogist.  Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
