A Moment Of Stardom Competition Offers Local Singers The Chance To Win A Recording Session

  • Saturday, August 27, 2016

The Friends of Hixson is hosting “A Moment of Stardom”, an amateur singing competition, on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. Contestants will take the stage at Abba’s House to perform in front of their community and a panel of judges.  The winner of the contest will receive a professional recording session, donated by Life Care Centers of America.

Auditions will be held on Sept. 10 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Life Care Center of Hixson. A Moment of Stardom auditions are open to all ages. Singers must provide their own background music and a $25 entry fee. Songs may be from any genre but cannot contain any profanity or exceed five minutes in length. Soloists and small groups (no more than 4) are encouraged to sign up and audition their vocal talents to the panel of judges. The top 20 performers will advance to the final competition onstage at Abba’s House.

Ellie Wallis, president of the Friends of Hixson, said, “A Moment of Stardom will give a variety of local performers an opportunity to vie for a professional recording session. We’re thrilled to be hosting such a fun event that celebrates the talent that exists in our community.”

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Friends of Hixson, a 501©3 organization that is dedicated to making Hixson a better place to live, work, and play.  The event is sponsored by Memorial Hospital and Life Care Centers of America.
