Carter Edwin “Auger” Nelson, 70, of the Ten Mile/Decatur area, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at his home.
He was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church. He was a former Meigs County Commissioner of the 4th district for over 20 years. He was a member of the Tennessee Laborers Union Local 846 out of Chattanooga.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.S . “Doc” and Mildred Carter Nelson; and one brother, Bill Nelson.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Kitty Cass Nelson of Decatur; one son Tim Nelson and wife Jamie of Decatur; one brother Butch Nelson and wife Patsy of Decatur; two sisters Betty Lynn of Cleveland and Peggy Skinner and husband Jimmy of Decatur; two grandchildren Kayla and Evelyn Nelson; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and a friends.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26 at The Bowers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Brown officiating.
Family will receive friends Friday, Aug, 26 from 4-7 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home.
Burial will be Saturday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. in the Rocky Springs Cemetery in Ten Mile. Family and Friends will serve as Pallbearers and “B-MAN” Roberts as Honorary Pallbearer.
