Hilton, Fretta Ann Frizzell

Fretta Ann Frizzell Hilton, of Chattanooga, and of late, Woodstock, Georgia, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2016.

Born Dec. 8, 1945, in Chattanooga, she was the second daughter of James and Ruth Frizzell. She attended college at Memphis State University. It was there she married her beloved Jimmy, who was attending medical school. After medical school graduation, they moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, for further training. During this period of time, they also served two years in the United States Air Force at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota. They then moved to Oak Ridge, Tn., where Jimmy began medical practice, and she did everything else.

In addition to raising her family of two boys, she was active in Aid to Dependent Families of Anderson County “ADFAC” and the Oak Ridge Medical Alliance.  She also had many outside interests over the years.  She was an accomplished potter, scuba diver and snow skier.  She and Jimmy enjoyed world travel, as well as trips to the beach with their family and close friends.  She enjoyed a good and full life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth Frizzell, as well as her older son, James I. Hilton III.

Fretta is survived by her husband, James Hilton; son, Steven Lee Hilton and wife, Karen of Woodstock, Ga.; grandchildren, Rachel, Hannah, and Jimmy.  She is also survived by her sister, Gail Phillips, and her niece, Heather Phillips Lakin, both of Huntsville.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 11:30 a.m.
