Unholy Siedlecki/Anderson Alliance - And Response (2)

  • Saturday, July 30, 2016

Time for the Carpetbagger Siedlecki to go back to Nashville. I think we've all heard about as much as we need to hear from the "mistakes" laden first-time politician. I've been hearing disturbing things this person has been saying to seniors across this great county of ours. The impious alliance he's formed with City Councilman Anderson to disparage a good man like Marty Haynes is revolting.

I don't believe that the older generation he's targeting would align with this type of behavior.

I find it ironic that in a news article with the Chattanoogan, the masters of collusion point the blame at Haynes for all the world's ills. Siedelecki has the nerve to blame Haynes for the property value spike in "600 block of East 17th Street." Here comes the irony, folks. The other half of the subterfuge, Chris Anderson, received a complaint by Helen Burns. The complaint was filed by Burns Thursday Dec. 3, 2015, in reference to the zoning just a few blocks from there. Allegedly, Anderson neglected to tell the neighborhood that the he had accepted a $500 contribution from the developer of the property. Of course, like the recent financial disclosure, there was no alleged malicious intent here either.

The bottom line, why did Siedlecki choose to run for elected office in Hamilton County when his roots are clearly in Nashville? Who will be in charge of overseeing the contracts on all the digital upgrades he recommends? Perhaps the alliance already has people in mind? Also, Roy Exum reported public records show Mark Seidlecki's own county tax bill has decreased, while his city tax bill has increased. How does he explain it? Are we to expect that a first-time politician with back to back campaign disclosure errors knows how to follow state law when he doesn't even understand the job description of assessor?

In parting, I just want to leave this with the readers. State Law TCA 67-5-1705 "Property tax revenue must provide the same amount of revenue as the previous year". Government can not have windfall profit.  Assessments have to be revenue neutral.

What really stands out to me looking at Mark Siedlecki’s election commission financials is the fact that they are filled in by illegible hand writing. Compared to his opponent’s which are at least ‘typed’.

Really? Filed in by hand and Siedlecki is running for what is essentially the tax collector’s office?

Also surprising is the amount of money given to Mark Siedlecki from Mayor Andy Berke’s ‘Three Star Pac’ .

Why is Mayor Berke donating to a person running for a county office?

I cannot believe the falsehoods published in this article. Mark is not from Nashville—he was raised in the greater Chattanooga community. He is a graduate of Rossville Comprehensive High School, a 20 minute drive from the high school where his opponent graduated.

Chattanooga is Mark’s home—although he’s lived all over as an international businessman, it’s his love of this region and his parents who live here that brought him home. Haynes continues to use Mark’s varied experience living in communities across our state and the world as some kind of indicator that he’s an outsider to our community, when in fact he’s lived here most of his life. Marty’s implication is clear: in his eyes, the only people who deserve to be in office are good ol’ boys who don’t see Hamilton County as a vibrant, eclectic region connected to the rest of the world. This blatant cronyism and deceit flies straight in the face of facts.

If you want an Assessor’s Office run by someone with practical experience and a wealth of knowledge on how to modernize the office and make it better serve taxpayers, vote for Mark Siedlecki.
