Woman Arrested After Stealing From Signal Mountain Walmart, Biting Employee

Demetrus T. Jones, 54, was arrested on Thursday after police said she left the Signal Mountain Road Walmart with $250.78 worth of merchandise, biting a loss prevention employee to escape. The incident occurred on May 25.

The victim told officers that when he attempted to stop Ms. Jones from leaving the store, she turned on him. He said they briefly struggled before she bit his right hand and fled out the door. At the time, police were unable to locate or identify the suspect.

On Sunday, officers said they were again dispatched to the Signal Mountain Road Walmart on a shoplifting call. Upon arrival, they arrested Ms. Jones, identifying her as the defendant from the assault in May.
