Shelley, John Norman II (Whitwell)

John Norman Shelley II, of Whitwell, TN, died Tuesday, July 26, 2016. 

He was the son of the late John Norman and Christine Roach Shelley.        

He received his Bachelor of Science degree from UTC and his Masters from Middle Tennessee State University.  He first taught and coached in Chattanooga and then taught in Marion County, served as principal of several schools, and was Superintendent of Schools for 8 years.  He was a long time farmer and was a member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church.        

He is survived by his wife, Mary Albright Shelley; children, Mary Alice (Stephen) Campbell, Rebecca (Scott) Barton and Johnathan (Niki) Shelley; grandchildren, Ella Grace and Andrew Campbell, Reece, Brice and Blaine Barton and Johnathan, Jr., Nicholas, Landon, Joseph and Jacob Shelley; and a sister, Dr. Nancy S. Ligon.        

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 29 at 11 a.m. central time at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Brenda Woods and Rev. Philip Layne officiating.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 28 from 4-8 p.m. central time at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper, who has charge of the arrangements.
