First Tennessee Bank’s Chattanooga Market President Jeff Jackson presented Virginia Anne Sharber, executive director of the Hunter Museum of American Art, a check in the amount of $27,000.
The funds will be used to support the more than 120 programs put on by the Hunter Museum each year, and also strengthen and maintain the museum’s extensive permanent collection.
The Hunter Museum, located in the Bluff View Art District, focuses on American art from the Colonial period to the present day.
The museum’s permanent collection includes more than 5,000 works of art ranging from 18 th century portraits and Genre paintings of the 19th century to the Hudson River School, American Impressionism and Ashcan school, Early Modern, Regionalism, Abstract Expressionism, as well as contemporary Studio Glass, paintings and sculpture.
The Hunter Museum offers a wide array of public programs, including lectures by scholars and artists, in-gallery dialogues facilitated by community leaders, concerts featuring local musicians, as well as regular tours and special family events.
Ms. Sharber, said about the donation, “Our longstanding partnership with First Tennessee has allowed the Hunter Museum to continuously engage our community and the region with exciting exhibitions and enriching programs. We are so grateful for their unwavering support.”
First Tennessee’s Mr. Jackson said , “It is vital that we promote the importance of the arts in our community. First Tennessee is proud to be able to help in that effort by supporting the Hunter Museum in its mission to engage audiences through art and encourage conversations, growth and change.”
