Here are upcoming news and events from Outdoor Chattanooga:

Introduction to Mountain Biking: Skills Class July 29
Mountain biking is so much more than just riding your bike in the woods! Outdoor Chattanooga's Introduction to Mountain Biking Program offers formal instruction to those that are new to the sport, or who want to get more out of riding. We invite you to join one of the Skills Classes being offered on Fri., July 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Greenway Farms. You'll receive instruction and skills demonstration from our experienced mountain bike staff while practicing newly learned skills and riding techniques in a controlled setting.

Appropriate for ages 10-110. Cost is $10 per person per class. Registration and payment is required in advance. Call Outdoor Chattanooga at (423) 643-6888 to register and make payment. Loaner equipment is available if needed, but is limited. *Participants must already know how to confidently ride a bike for these classes. 

Family Funday: Canoeing & Archery at Greenway Farms July 31
Join Outdoor Chattanooga at the Greenway Farms for a Family Funday full of activity on Sunday, July 30 between the hours of 4 to 7 p.m. Choose a leisurely canoe trip on N. Chickamauga Creek, try archery at the new program Archery Range, bring a picnic, bring a bike or take a nature hike. For more information contact Outdoor Chattanooga at 423-643-6888.

Canoeing:
Outdoor Chattanooga will provide all the equipment for you to paddle the creek at your own pace. Children under 30 lbs. should bring their own Personal Flotation Device (life jacket).Meet at the N. Chick canoe launch behind the old Sniteman Cabin. Canoes available from 4 - 7 p.m. for $25 per canoe | first come, first served. (cash or check only)

Archery: 
Aim for adventure with our new archery program. All ages will enjoy testing their aim at the bulls-eye targets placed before an arrow resistant net. This program range is located next to the dog park. Outdoor Chattanooga staff will provide the instruction, guidance, and equipment for this activity suited for all ages. Available between 4 - 7 p.m. No fee.

Hike, Bike, Paddle, and Play! Moccasin Bend July 30
Located in the heart of Chattanooga, Moccasin Bend is rich with history. Join us for bike tours across the Bend, and a canoe/kayak tour around the Bend to learn about how people have interacted with this land throughout our history. Then, move over to the Manning Street pocket park for an arts festival and play inspired by Moccasin Bend and the urban forest.

Event Details:
8:00 AM to Noon
Ranger led paddle in touring kayaks around Moccasin Bend. Reservations through Outdoor Chattanooga. Appropriate for ages 15 and up. Rated a moderate level paddle tour. CALL for RESERVATIONS- limited availability. **The paddle event is full and has a wait list**

2:00 PM to 4:00 PM 
Ranger led hike and bike to the old Brown's Ferry Federal Road. Meet and park at Moccasin Bend Gateway at 10 Hamm Rd. 
Bring your own bike or reserve a bicycle from Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga's mobile bicycle fleet by calling the Park: 706-866-9241. No fee.

5:00 PM to 7:00 PM 
Ranger led hike and bike to Civil War Earthworks on Stringers Ridge
Meet and park at Moccasin Bend Gateway at 10 Hamm Rd. Bring your own bike or reserve a bicycle from Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga's mobile bicycle fleet by calling the Park: 706-866-9241. No fee.

4:00 PM to 11:00 PM 
Mocs Bend Nature & Art Festival in partnership with UTC Theater Department
Art, crafts, food, and workshops all day located at 504 East Manning Street "pocket park". Enjoy the play: Robin! Coming to a Forest Near You at 7 pm, followed by live music at 9 pm. 

For all events, visitors are encouraged to wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear and to bring plenty of water and sunscreen.

Scenic City Outdoor Expo July 30-31
Bring the whole family out to Camp Jordan Arena for the Scenic City Outdoor Expo on Sat., July 30 and Sun., July 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days. Free general admission. There will be vendors set up for fishing, hunting, boats, kayaks, RV's, ATV's and much more. There will also be a kids fun zone and a kids fishing derby. For more information, visit the website. 
 
Community News
The Chattanooga City Council is considering a request to lease a portion of property, located in Coolidge Park, towards the end of Tremont Street to the Charles H. Coolidge Medal of Honor Heritage Center in order to construct a 6,800 square foot, two-story building. Please attend the meeting and give your feedback.
