  • Monday, July 25, 2016

James Vaughn Horn, 81, of Cleveland, Tennessee, died on Saturday, July 23, 2016 after a lengthy illness.

He was a legend in the auction business and was known nationwide for his expertise in auctioning off auto machine shops.  Vaughn conducted multiple auctions over the last 40 years in 33 states across the United States.  He loved the auction business and was sad when his failing health prevented him from continuing on.  He conducted his last auction in 2013 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was an avid NASCAR fan and also a University of Tennessee Vols fan.  He loved people and always wanted everyone to have a good time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ruth Gentry Horn and Raymond Horn.

Survivors include his caregiver and “his special angel,” Julianne “Julie” Parks Horn of Cleveland; step-children, Luanne Helms and Shannon (Kenny) Lawson, all of Cleveland, Mary Dawn (Robbie) Newberry of Murfreesboro and Jeff (Kim) White of Collierville; grandchildren, Natalie Newberry and Taylor, Carson and Ashton White, who all called him “Pop”; and many extended family members.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Sears officiating.  Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Kenny Lawson, Robbie Newberry, Wayne Kerr, Robert Whaley, Karl Keasler, Jim Smith and Vaughn’s pal, Lilo serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Horn, Wyman Horn and Matt Tarver.  A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

His family will receive friends on Monday, July 25 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

A very special thank you to his son-in-law, Kenny Lawson for being there for Vaughn throughout the day and when needed and also a heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga for their care.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa Florida  33607.
