Ida L. Taylor, 91, died on July 23, 2016 in Georgia. 

She was born May 27, 1925 in Chattanooga, TN.  She was a graduate of Howard High School, class of 1947, and attended Tennessee A & I State University in Nashville.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Mrs. Taylor dedicated years of devoted service to Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga and later, she continued to devote her services to the State of Tennessee at the Moccasin Bend Mental Health Center, retiring from duty in 1991.  With sound mind and statue, she embarked upon several trades and attributes while professionally receiving awards and certification in the fields of Pharmacology, Cosmetology, Cake Design and Ceramic Art.

She was preceded by her husband, the late John W. Taylor, Sr.; parents, Arthur and Sarah “Sadie L. Moon; brothers, James, George and William; sisters, Gertrude, Edith Annabelle, Corrine; and niece, Bettie Jo Smith.

She is survived by her sons, Jon and George Taylor; grandchildren, Angelica, Sherelle, Tarra, Tiffany; daughters-in-law, Diangela, Patricia and Irina;  great-grandchildren, Derrelle, Jermaine, Darrell Phillips, Jr., Briana, Isayah and Zarian; devoted cousins, Glenna Kelley and Evelyn Young; along with many loving relatives and close friends.

The service for Mrs. Taylor will be held on Jul 29, at 10 a.m. in celebration of the Mass inside the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, 214 East 8th Street in Chattanooga. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon on Thursday, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
