Benjamin F. Nowlin, Jr. “Benny”, 69, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 19, 2016.

A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, he began his career with Combustion Engineering in 1973. After 17 years of dedicated service in both Nuclear and Fossil Manufacturing, he joined TVA, working with Nuclear and Fossil Engineering and Field services. Mr. Nowlin retired after 27 years with the Tennessee Valley Authority, receiving grateful appreciation and personal recognition for continuous, loyal, and conscientious service, along with his personal commitment to the safety of our Tennessee Valley.

To his family, he was a selfless and loving guardian. To his colleagues, he was a tireless and faithful co-worker. To his wife of 47 years, he was a loyal and loving partner. To his children, his constant love and concern can never be replaced. To his grandchildren, he was the catalyst for every happy moment in their lives. His life was totally dedicated to his family and his friends.

Mr. Nowlin is survived by his wife, Judy; his daughters, Nancy Nowlin, Darcy Welch, and Randi Schlosser; along with his grandsons, Scout Schlosser, Griffin Welch, and Lucas Welch; his two sons-in-law, Zach Welch and David Schlosser; and nephew, Stephen Hobbs.

The Nowlin family will receive friends on Monday, July 25, from 5-8 p.m. and on Tuesday, July 26, from 12-1 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel.

The funeral service will be in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, July 26, at 1 p.m. with Reverend Andy Cornett officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
