  • Thursday, July 21, 2016
Thrive 2055, a collaborative regional initiative hosted by the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, has been named a finalist for a national award presented by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE).

Thrive 2055 focuses on proactive engagement of the tristate, 16-county region around Chattanooga to make the most of economic opportunities while preserving what is most cherished about the communities, culture and natural treasures that make the region so unique.

Entries from three other organizations - Mason City Chamber of Commerce in Iowa, Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce in New York, and Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, have been named finalists for the award, which will be presentedAugust 10 in Savannah, Ga.
at ACCE's annual convention.

"Finalists for the Regional Innovation Award exemplify the highest levels of civic entrepreneurship and regional stewardship," said ACCE President Mick Fleming. He said, "To help their communities address challenges and seize opportunities, chambers of commerce must convene diverse stakeholders and develop new strategies across jurisdictions."

The ACCE Regional Innovation Award recognizes organizations committed to building strong and vibrant communities through groundbreaking collaboration and program development. Award finalists are community pioneers that focus on four principles of regional stewardship: an innovative economy, livable communities, social inclusion, and a collaborative style of governance.

Led by ACCE's Education Attainment Division in 2016, the award program targeted initiatives that boost economic competitiveness by investing in health and wellness. Finalists are organizations that are building sustainable efforts that support the health of children, the health of the workplace, and the health of the broader community.
