31 Apartments Proposed For 1.7-Acre Site On Old Hixson Pike

  • Friday, July 1, 2016

A developer wants to build 31 apartments on a 1.7-acre site at 5221 Old Hixson Pike.

A single home is currently at the site that is owned by George Ellis Jr.

Callico Properties is seeking re-zoning for the site.

The proposed entrance would be on Old Hixson Pike.

Two to three split-story buildings are proposed across the site facing an internal drive and parking area.

The density would be approximately 17.9 dwelling units per acre.

The Regional Planning Agency staff recommended approval, but said, "The proposed density is higher than what is recommended by the adopted Land Use Plan for the area which recommends medium density residential. The proposed density of 17.9 dwelling units per acre places the proposal as a high density development."

It goes before the Planning Commission on Monday, July 11, at 1 p.m. at the County Courthouse.
