Cook, Charles Edgar (Rome)

Charles Edgar Cook, 88, of Rome, Georgia, died on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Cook was born Nov. 15, 1927, in Rome, the son of the late Clarence Edgar and Charlsie McCray Cook.  He was a member of the Garden Lakes Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Bigelow-Sanford. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.

Mr. Cook is survived by his wife of 69 years, Sarah Imogene Scoggins Cook; sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald E. and Leslie Cook, Mike and Carolyn Cook; grandchildren, Jeff Cook, Jonathan Cook, Brian Cook, and Lori Adler; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Cook will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 1, at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff Cook, Jonathan Cook, Brian Cook, Lori Adler, Ethan Cook, and Caleb Cook.

Mr. Cook will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the hour of service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.
