UTC Runner Paul Stuart Named Academic All-American

  • Saturday, June 25, 2016
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga junior Paul Stuart (Brentwood, Tenn.) was named Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Stuart just completed his junior season on the men's cross country team and led the Mocs on the course. He earned all-conference honors at the Southern Conference Championships last fall with a 12thplace overall finish while recording a personal best time in the 8-kilometer race. He placed 72nd overall in the men's 10K NCAA South Region and finished eighth or better in all meets in the regular season.

“Paul was a great competitor for us this season,” Chattanooga head coach Bill Gautier said.
“Our team had a lot of newcomers and Paul stepped up to lead them on the course and is an exemplary student in the classroom. He has tremendous leadership skills and we are lucky to have him.”

Stuart graduated in December with a B.S. in Accounting with Latin Honors and began his work toward a Masters in Accounting in the spring. He earned a 3.5 GPA in the spring and was named to the Southern Conference Fall All-Academic Team.
