Skinner, Elbert Darrell "Gran-Gran" Sr. (Summerville)

Elbert Darrell "Gran-Gran" Skinner, Sr., 79, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Skinner was born in Bloomington, IN on May 17, 1937, son of the late William Jasper Skinner and Wilma Berniece Kindred Skinner. He was a member of the Berryton Baptist Church, and the Lyerly Masonic Lodge #338 F&AM. Mr. Skinner was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. He loved to fly and build Ultralight planes, work with wood and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Skinner was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Allen and Judy Bruce; and a daughter-in-law, Melissa Skinner.

Mr. Skinner is survived by his wife, Annette Skinner; daughter, Lisa Skinner Fowler; sons, Darrell Skinner, Jr. and his wife Leah, Steve Skinner and Brad Skinner; brother, Richard Skinner; sister, Karen Stivers; grandchildren, Chalee Skinner Williams, Cierra Fowler Jennings, Steven Skinner, Terran Skinner, Shannon Fowler, Trent Skinner and Brandon Skinner; grandchildren, Halle Lively, Casen Williams and Lanie Williams; special friends, Donna and Mike Horrall; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Skinner will be held Sunday, June 26, at 3 p.m. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Skates officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dale Williams, Andy Stivers, Trent Skinner, Brandon Skinner, Steven Skinner, Josh Jennings, Eddie Willingham and Ronnie Croy. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class of Berryton Baptist Church.

Mr. Skinner will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Sunday, June 26 from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Coffman Funeral Home, Petitt Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
