Snakes And Mud Puddles At Lookout Valley Recreation Center

  • Wednesday, June 22, 2016

I live in the Lookout Valley community.  Our recreation center is in need of many things and we seem to be unable to get any support from the city recreation department, city council members, officials in charge and any others. Recreation members have been to everyone they can think of to ask for help and it never seems to happen.

Some of the issues we have are:

1- We have a problem with snakes in the creek, which we have had personnel ask the city to clean out.  They have came out and looked and that's it.

2- We had an electrical problem which caused us to have a fence which was carrying an electrical current which took months (maybe years but I may be wrong) to get fixed.  And we had to bar the kids from playing on it for their safety.

3-We currently have drainage problems which need to be fixed because of standing water every time it rains and the mosquitoes that come with it.

4- We have ask for dirt and other items to help us with the fields and cannot get a thing for our facilities.

5 - Coaches cut grass for our facility and upkeep the ground but you have several city workers who work at the other city rec facilities - why are we any different?

6 - We do fundraisers, etc. to raise all our money to support our kids and teams.  We get nothing in support from the city.  We buy our on chalk for the lines, bases, kids equipment, everything but pay the light and water bill.  We get no help at all from any city department and we need to get started on making this facility a lot better for everyone.

I call upon the City Council, County Commission, mayor's office, whomever to help us - we have ask for several items to help and seem to get no help of any kind.  This is for the kids and the community.  We are putting a lot of money into John A. Patten for the adults, but it seems nothing into the children's rec facility, which is for them.

Thanks and any help would be appreciated.
