June is nationally recognized as Homeownership Month and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area plans to celebrate this month in a big way….by hosting three homeownership dedication ceremonies. This is the first time ever in which Habitat for Humanity has had three homeowners receive their mock keys to their new homes on the same day.
The three new homeowners, TaSherryia Owens, Torri Scott, and Alice Smith, share four commonalities: (1) they are women; (2) they are Chattanooga natives (3) they are loving, devoted, and working mothers (4) they’ve been renters cumulatively for more than 30 years – and by becoming a homeowner through Habitat for Humanity, each will save nearly $300 a month in living expenses.
With the support of Habitat of Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area and the generous funding received from the City of Chattanooga’s Department of Economic & Community Development, these three women have been able to achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.
