Betty Catlett Harpe, 89, formerly of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, May 5, 2016 in Birmingham, Alabama.
She was born in Chattanooga, to the late Doris and Virgil Catlett, Sr. She was a former member of Simpson United Methodist Church, graduated from Chattanooga High School Class of 1944, and retired from Suntrust Bank. She was also a volunteer at Meals on Wheels and UTC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry K. Harpe.
Surviving are her children, Susan (Dr. Joseph Lynn) Cochran of Birmingham, AL and Cindy (Nick) King of Ooltewah; step-daughter, Laura (Don) Franks of Mableton, GA; grandchildren, Lindsay Elizabeth Cochran of Birmingham, AL, William Andrew Cochran of Chattanooga, Steve Edward (Kelly) Slagle of Chickamauga, GA, John Scott (Annette) Ferguson of Chattanooga and Elisabeth Ferguson (Bobby Ray, Jr.) Eaton of Chattanooga; step-grandchild, Mason Franks of Mableton, GA; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 9, at Chattanooga Memorial Park with Dr. David Harr officiating.
There will not be any visitation at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or T. C. Thompson Children’s Hospital.
