Lee University softball senior Emily Dagnan landed on the NFCA Division II South All-Region First Team, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Thursday.

Dagnan was also named All-GSC First team after leading all catchers in the conference with a .411 average, eight home runs, 19 doubles and 50 RBI. The slugging senior posted a .722 slugging percentage and a .444 on base percentage.

The Jasper, Tenn. native started all but four games over the last two years for the Lady Flames. Dagnan not only provide pop in the middle of the lineup but also shined behind the plate throwing out 21 out of 52 base stealers in 2016.

Fifteen other GSC student-athletes were also named to the 2016 NFCA Division II South All-Region Team. This year’s eight NFCA Division II All-Region teams are comprised of 207 student-athletes from 116 programs.

UAH third baseman Kaitlyn Bannister leads the list as one of the NFCA’s Top 10 finalists for the 2016 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player of the Year award, also announced by the NFCA Thursday. Bannister leads the nation with 80 RBI, while hitting .420 with 17 doubles, 17 home runs and 65 runs scored.
